Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences, situated 13.4 Km from Bareilly,on Nainital Highway,is an emerging centre of excellence in medical health care and education with quality services,establishedin 2002.Currently, the 1000 bedded muti super speciality hospital caters to the medical needs of people in a radius of 250 km of Bareilly zone,reaching upto farthest towns of Uttarakhand & Nepal.
The institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate medical education(MS/MD) in pre,para and clinical subjects.
The objectives of the department of pathology are to provide quality medical education to undergraduate/ post graduate medical students and dependable and timely diagnostic services to the patients. From humble beginings in the year 2002 till the present date, pathology laboratory has taken giant leaps with the introduction of facilities such as frozen section, cytocentrifuge,immunohistochemistry and cytochemistry.
In order to continue providing standard quality services, various facilities like 6-part hematology Analyzer, automated ESR Analyzer, fully automated coagulometer and liquid based cytology have introduced recently. For the advancement in post graduate teaching we already had a penta head microscope and now a deca head microscope has been added. A trinocular microscope with fluoroscent and polarizing attachments has been installed recently for research purposes. The departmental museum houses nearly 250 gross pathology specimens which enable the students to get a better insight of the disease processes. The department is active in research, particularly in the area of cancer, and also participate in various external quality assurance programs to achieve excellence in patient care.
